I’m Jakub Fręchowicz, a computer scientist based in Zürich. I am currently studying for an MSc in Computer Science at ETH Zürich, where I focus on autonomous vehicles and the systems that allow them to perceive their surroundings, make decisions, and act reliably.
Before moving to Zürich, I completed my BSc in Computer Science and Engineering at TU Delft, cum laude. During my bachelor’s, I worked across machine learning, software engineering, and mathematics—from studying representation learning for single-cell genomics to developing an agentic AI tool with Google Cloud’s Enablement Team.
Teaching and explaining
Teaching has become an important part of my work. At ETH, I am a teaching assistant for Probabilistic Artificial Intelligence, a course I first took during my exchange. At TU Delft, I spent two years with PRIME, working with mathematics professors on educational software and Manim animations that make abstract linear algebra more visual.
These experiences taught me that building and explaining are closely connected. Whether I am designing software, working through a machine learning problem, or preparing a tutorial, I enjoy finding the structure in a difficult idea and turning it into something clear and useful.
Where I’m heading
I am now moving deeper into autonomous systems, particularly the machine learning and software behind autonomous vehicles. I am interested in how these systems combine perception, reasoning under uncertainty, and reliable decision-making—and in the work required to make those parts function together outside a controlled setting.
This site brings together the projects, teaching, and writing that have shaped that direction.
